The work of Jean-Michel Basquiat, one of the most important painters of the twentieth century, is presented to the Fondation Vuitton until 14 January 2019. The exhibition spans from 1980 to 1988, the entire career of the painter with 120 of his finest works. The chronological journey takes us into the New York of the 80s, in 12 large rooms all well presented. Now's the time - Jean-Michel Basquiat It is on the ante mortem decade (1980-1988) that the exhibition focuses: a time when Basquiat takes a liking for the aesthetic qualities of graphics, letters and signs. This is what will be remembered in his short career: paintings marked by a strong sense of sophistication and avant-garde. A hundred of pieces are on display to discover his universe, such as the famous Heads series from 1981-1982 or his works made in collaboration with Andy Warhol. At the same time, as this stuuning exhibition on Basquiat, the Louis Vuitton Foundation presents a retrospective of Egon Schiele, an artist from the 1910s.
